Hi! My name is Aria and I have been in birth work for 2 years now. I have attended over 70 births as a doula and midwife assistant, and have a love for women, babies, and the birthing process. I am a wife, mother of 1 (and planning on many more!), Christian, lover of nature, previous classical ballet dancer (still take classes from time to time !) working on starting a homestead, and love all things holistic medicine and herbs! Every woman deserves a doula for their birth and postpartum phases. Most women, especially in America have been taught how scary and painful childbirth can be, and how motherhood is automatically overwhelming and scary as well. I want to change that for the women I serve, as we should all know about the magic of our bodies, and how beautiful childbirth can be. Homebirth and birth center physiological, natural births can be extremely rewarding, not only for the birth, but for the postpartum healing as well. Birth is attended by midwives mostly in almost every other country besides the US. Other countries see birth as a rite of passage, and they use community midwives and village doulas to support women in birth. It is an act of sisterhood and they see motherhood and birth not as a burden, but as a blessing. My calling to this work is to support like-minded women as I grow into a midwife, and what you want for your birth and motherhood journey! Down below is some snippets of my life :)
"When a woman is in travail she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for a joy that a child is born into the world"- John 16:21
"So do NOT fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand"- Isaiah 41:10
"Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him" -Psalms 127:23
"We are the only species of mammals that doubt our ability to give birth. It's profitable to scare women about birth. But let's stop it. I tell women- your body is not a lemon." - Ina May Gaskin, The Farm Midwife
My husband and I with our son in Tahoe! When we are not working, we love spending time in the mountains with our son.
25 weeks pregnant with my first son, James.
Only a few days before I went into labor.
Laboring in the tub in my own home- one of the best experiences of my life. Around 6 hours before meeting my son!
